where would you be if you followed curiosity?

a nominal position is the superstition your landlocked

between the seas of opportunities not seized

that the air is thin in the atmosphere

and if you try to leave you might be seen

taking up too much oxygen

to fuel the combustion needed to thrust you to a world others can't breathe

but all it takes is two steps to be somewhere your not

the first step takes only the thought

to untie the knot

around the legs of your voice inside

rip off the duct tape and hug the gut feeling

caught in the riptide

of society pointing us everywhere other than the point of this life

there is no reason to hide

our internal compass is quiet at first

then screams the more it feels seen

let it guide you and start living your dream

it may sound obscene

but to follow your truth means to lean

on the universe and free fall between

where you think you should go

and some place never seen

to open yourself continuously

to what seems absurd

gives birth to sounds never heard

that's the sound of your truth

my life is proof and I give you my word

that the second step will be easier

so walk out the door and ask

what do you smell?

what do you hear?

what do you notice and what draws you near?

then prior to thinking about what someone else thinks about it and puckering your lips to the sour idea that being different turns rotten and cower

give more of your attention to your present power

feel empowered to smell that flower

for the path we follow this hour

shapes what we see next

and as much as we fear being devoured

the only thing that eats us in the end is regret

two steps to the window seat on a plane

two steps uninhibited by guilt or shame

two steps and you've already changed

222 winks at you to remind you you are not chained

but on a journey maintained by following your inner-child's intuition

the part of us we spend our whole lives trying to contain

until our joy chokes to death and the only way to remain is to let go, reframe

realign our life to the truth that is deep inside

which gives rise to the fullness we seek when we're lost feeling hollow and weak

life is sweet when we speak our freak

and the universe kisses our cheek

as we ascend over mountain peaks

it may be steep but take the leap

and fall deeply in love with the life that you reap
